Every week, we highlight the FRAME Awards submissions that have received the most attention from our readers and jury. Below are the five most-viewed projects between 31 May and 6 June.
Lost Chili
Sora®
For Lost Chili, a restaurant focussed on spicy flavours, Sora® delivered branding, planning and spatial design services – leading to a trendy but unpretentious restaurant with a welcoming atmosphere and a strong use of colour (Restaurant). Ettore Sottsass-designed wood veneer and Akari light pieces by Isamu Noguchi can be spotted throughout the space, placed at behest of the restaurant founder, a design connoisseur. ‘Fun and lively design,’ said George Takla, jury member and interior design manager at Naga. ‘The red details and layered spaces bring the place story to life. Cozy lighting and unique textures add warmth and personality.’

Dome Ascendant Tarentum Restaurant
Atelier Xu
Metallic meshes and references to ancient Greek architecture by Atelier Xu imbue this bistro with a sense of ‘sacred-grandeur-meets-urban-modernity’ (Restaurant). The iconic Pantheon dome is recreated in 325 suspended modules of metal mesh, creating a monumental domed effect without overpowering the dining area. Jury member Johann Matthysen of Matthysen commented on how the ‘classical fragments and metallic dramaturgy’ came together in the restaurant design to create an ‘atmospheric mise-en-scène’.

Casa Foscolo
I-Am

Presentedby Abu Dhabi
External Reference Architects
Avolta and PresentedBy join forces for a travel-retail debut designed by Barcelona-based External Reference Architects (Single-Brand Store). Inspired by the calming characteristics of water, the interior of the space presents passers-by with a deep blue oasis away from the bustle of Abu Dhabi International Airport. The 3D-printed panels made of post-industrial PET-G have a dual function as wall finish and product display shelving, while a digital ring simulates an animated fountain.
