Get to know the design professionals that make up June’s FRAME Awards jury

June’s FRAME Awards competition has just kicked off. This month, 15 design professionals hailing across continents and sectors will evaluate the top projects in interior design right now. Learn more about each of them, below.

Adi Utama, global office development at JetBrains

Adi Utama brings 16 years of architecture and design experience to his current role at Global Office Development for JetBrains. In 2019, he co-founded Wireframes, a startup providing chat-based consulting for home and workplace interior design. This venture further honed his expertise in the design startup, UX, and technology sectors, after working with renowned architecture design firms such as UNStudio, Andramatin Architects, and WOMO Architects – where he demonstrated his focus on sustainability and well-being projects for the Singapore University of Technology & Design, and several tech campuses in the USA and UK.

Constance Guisset, designer at Constance Guisset Studio

Constance Guisset founded her eponymous studio in 2009, which specializes in product design, interior architecture and scenography. Her diverse specialities have brought her to collaborate with furniture editors such as Petite Friture, Pierre Frey and Richard Ginori, realize the stage design for Angelin Preljocah productions, create the scenography for Veuve Clicquot and complete interior and architecture projects for Van Cleef & Arpels. Her work has been highly regarded, having solo shows dedicated to her work at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs de Paris in 2017 and at the Institut Français in Milan in 2023.

Islam El Mashtooly, design director at OBM International

Currently based in Dubai, Islam El Mashtooly is the design director at OBM International. His work focuses on the MENA region, emphasizing design that supports and enhances local communities, climate, culture and traditions. Having worked in architecture and urban design for 15 years, some of his works include Once Upon a Forest Installation at Dubai Design Week and the Etihad Airways HQ in Abu Dhabi. Since being at OBM International, he’s completed hospitality projects for Fairmont Tazi Palace Tangier, Westin Himalayas and St. Regis Bermuda.

Jan Clostermann, founder and director at CLOU Architects

Jan Clostermann established CLOU Architects in 2015, with offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Lisbon. Originally hailing from Germany, he completed his studies and began his architecture career in Europe, having worked for a top firm in their London, Rotterdam and Singapore studios. In 2005, he moved to Beijing where he delivered mixed-use and retail projects as well as masterplans and interiors. His work focuses on innovating built spaces that create social value.

Jason Chan, founder of Jason Design Group

Graduating with degrees in fashion design and fashion marketing from Raffles College Singapore, Jason Chan transitioned from fashion to interior design in 2013 when she established her design practice Jason Design Group in Shanghai. Her work emphasizes the design of commercial spaces. She prides herself in her multisensorial approach to each project she completes such as the DongYing Boutique Salon and Lonely Noodle Shop.

Jorge Méndez-Cáceres, creative director at BDG Architecture and Design

Jorge Méndez-Cáceres is creative director at BDG Architecture and Design. Before joining BDG, he was a senior associate at Jump Studios. He successfully led projects for renowned clients such as Google in Tel Aviv, the World Expo 2020 in Dubai, and Nordeus in Belgrade. His contributions at Heatherwick Studio also include developing projects like Little Island in New York, Google in London and Tora-Asa in Tokyo. Additionally, he worked for Zaha Hadid Architects, where he contributed to projects for Stuart Weitzman in Milan, Rome, Hong Kong, and London, as well as the Main Metro Station in Riyadh, amongst many others.

Ju Bin, founder and chief design director at Horizontal Design and director of C Foundation

Ju Bin founded Horizontal Design in 2003 and is the chief design director of the design studio, which has a presence in Beijing and Shenzhen. His work spans architectural, interior, landscape and product design and integrates traditional and contemporary Chinese culture into his designs. Also the director of C Foundation, some of his most notable projects have been Naera Hotel and Spa, Yangshuo Sugar House and Zhang Yan Cultural Museum.

Justine Fox, founder and colour director at Studio Justine Fox

For Justine Fox, colour is an integral aspect to the built environment. She’s dedicated her career to exploring colour’s functional and psychological properties to effect and drive transformation adding value and impact for people, places and the planet. Her eponymous studio provides colour consultancy services for the built environment and collaborates with brands, designers, architects and developers through colour research, experience installations, community engagement, workshops and project consultancy. She frequently speaks at trade events, contributes to international media publications and is a brand ambassador for Graphenstone Paints. 

Liyun Hao, founder and design director of EVD 

Graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Liyun Hao founded Endless Variations Design (EVD) based in Shanghai. His practice explores the convergence of space, details, materials and contemporary aesthetics to find new spatial possibilities. His award-winning work includes EVD’s own office and the Qing Xi Villa in Shanghai.

Maja Bernvill, architect and creative director at Specific Generic

Maja Bernvill is a creative director in architecture at the multidisciplinary design office Specific Generic. She designed store concepts for brands Acne Studios and On Running, large-scale office projects such as On Lab’s 17-storey headquarters in Zurich, as well as restaurant interiors for the innovative plant-based concept Roots and the Michelin starred duo Adam/Albin in Stockholm. A common theme for all these collaborations is a focus on creating and building what she describes as creating ‘memorable moments’. 

Marie Hesseldahl Larsen, partner and head of interior and product design at 3XN

Since graduating from the Aarhus School of Architecture in 2006, Marie Hesseldahl Larsen has worked for 3XN. As head of interior, she runs the office’s dedicated interior team. She’s also worked in the competition department developing conceptual designs and presenting large-scale competition projects, primarily offices, cultural, hospitality, and public buildings. She has led the interior design development for ambitious projects such as Schüco Headquarters in Germany, The Station student centre in Frederiksberg, Coral Hotel in Crete, Forskaren life science offices, Grow Hotel in Sweden and new workspaces for Mærsk. 

Marie-Andrée Busque, director of interior architecture at Sid Lee Architecture

Holding a master’s and a bachelor’s degree in architecture, Marie-Andrée Busque has over 15 years of experience as an architect. She worked as a designer and project manager at Cirque du Soleil before joining the Sid Lee Architecture team in 2010 where she directs the design process for cultural, residential, commercial and hospitality projects. She integrates her passions for architecture and marketing into her strategic approach. She worked on the transformation of Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth Hotel, the firm’s Sid Lee Biosquare and the Vogue Hotel Montreal.

Sanchit Arora, principal architect at Renesa Architecture Design Interiors Studio

Having received his bachelor’s degree in architecture Sushant School of Art & Architecture in India, Sanchit Arora went on to study on scholarship at some of Europe’s most prestigious design institutions in London and Milan. He is a principal architect at Renesa Architecture Design Interiors Studio, a multi-disciplinary architecture, interior design and branding architecture studio based in New Delhi, India. He joined the studio nine years ago and has worked with clients like Kohler India.

Stéphane Bernier, partner and director of retail strategy and innovation at Ædifica

Based in Montréal, Canada, Stéphane Bernier is involved in all aspects of retail design from project management to concept design development and branding. As a retail practice leader and partner in the firm, he is strategically involved in new design initiatives and branded experiences across all disciplines, from retail design to architecture and corporate interiors. He has actively participated in the development of over a hundred commercial prototypes implemented in North America, Europe and Asia having worked with clients like Adidas, Nespresso and Starbucks.

Tugba Okguoglu, creative concept and customer experience developer for Ingka Centers Services AB

Originally hailing from Turkey, where she completed her architectural studies, Tugba Okguoglu is now based in Malmö, Sweden, where she works as a creative concept and customer experience developer for Ingka Centers Services AB. Her portfolio consists of projects across typologies including shopping malls, residential complexes and the Istanbul Radio & TV Tower and continues to work to develop shopping centres anchored by IKEA stores.
