AMA has integrated a modern interior design into the existing Edwardian architecture of this house in a creative suburb of West London.

London-based architect Andy Martin set out to exaggerate the balanced spaces of the Edwardian architecture by removing walls and creating new living areas.

The ground floor consists of an unbroken common room that includes the kitchen, dining area and living room and reaches into the garden to absorb natural light. Here the different spaces are divided by colour, materials and floor levels. The five family bedrooms are then distributed by the second and third floor, where spaces also merge together.

A collector of contemporary British art, the client defined a program with two key instructions: the extensive use of colour and the creation of solutions that would seamlessly integrate his art collection into the house. For this purpose, the off-white walls and ceilings contrast with the bright colours of the furniture and joinery, resulting in an harmonious and playful space where the art works seem to belong to.
