The 228 sq m space is divided into themed sections that reflect scenes from the 1951 animated film. From Trompe-l'œil art to a mirror wall and fantasy forest, the bespoke furnishings translated historic 2D animated scenes into 3D interior design. ‘We wanted to give guests excitement and surprise, like an unreal world with various wonderlands,’ explains designer Eiichi Maruyama, who completed the project with Katsunori Suzuki. ‘But we didn’t want it to be gimmicky.’ One wall is covered in carpet, while another room is inspired by the Queen and King of Hearts characters. One of many focal points is a massive custom-made heart-shaped table and chandelier, which is made of moulding. The restaurant is the fourth in an ‘Alice in Wonderland’ series by Maruyama and Katsunori.
