Ad Tempus by Henry Richmond Young

BOOKMARK ARTICLE

Henry Richmond Young, Parsons The New School for Design graduate, collaborated with chef Veronica Duboise for his graduate project Ad Tempus. The series of objects – designed for presenting deserts – focuses on the relationship between food, presentation and the diner.

The objects lead the diner through a three course desert tasting using the themes of exploration and discovery. The 3D printed ceramic tableware have been created with the aim of small batch production in mind to reflect the seasonality and the changing of menus. Young’s objective is that 3D printing will avoid the excess cost of tooling and give freedom in varying the materials and forms.

Toast – the first course – consists of pain perdu, maple gelée and pamplemousse sorbet which is hidden under a layer of white chocolate to be uncovered by the diner. The object it is served on is called Carter after the English archaeologist who discovered the tomb Tutankhamun.
