‘Our shop concept is inspired by the earthy, sun baked, solid architectural elements of the Mediterranean,’ say designers Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien of their design for Camper’s new Rome store.
Featuring bright graphic prints, funky lighting and hues reminiscent of summertime, the shop’s tiny space has no shortage of colour. Playfully inspired by the idea of an ‘eternal summer,’ the Camper store is seeking to both fit in and stand out from its surroundings.
Doshi and Levien say elements of the shop were modeled after typical Italian sights like marble steps, a fountain on a piazza, vibrant clothing or the ceiling fan in a café.
‘It feels like a shop that has been there forever; solid, sturdy, using materials that can be touched and washed,’ Levien says. ‘Yet it is quirky.’
